2 months old!!!

Wow.... time flies doesn't it? I can't believe that our little peanut is already two months old.... well tomorrow. Today was the last day that I get to spend at home with him.... just the two of us. I go back to work on Monday and Wesley starts daycare. I am excited about my new job and sad that I am gonna have to leave my little man. I know that he will be in good hands. He is going to a home daycare that Austin and Kaleb stayed at during my student teaching. Lesa is fantastic!!! Wesley has changed so much over the last 8 weeks already. He is laughing and talking to us every night now.

Speaking of nights.... man is he a great sleeper!!! He eats at about 8 and then usually lays down for the night and sleeps until around 7 or so. Next week he will have to get up earlier, so maybe he will still be fine. I have been trying to get us both adjusted to a schedule this week, but that has proven very difficult. Next week should be a fun adjustment for all of us. Say a prayer for us..... we will ALL need it :-)

He's here!

Our new little peanut got here on Monday, June 21 at 11:50 am. He weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces and was 19 and 3/4 inches long. His name is Wesley Eugene Harris. Check out his newborn picture above done by my college friend Suzanne from B Real Photo! It's amazing!

We are all doing good and trying to adjust to life with Wesley around. Austin and Kaleb having been staying with Nanny and Gamma down in Bolivia so I can try to get Wesley and myself on a schedule. It's been nice having this time, but I miss my boys! They are coming home this weekend.

Wesley had a check up last Saturday. When we left the hospital, he was down to 6 pounds 2 ounces. Two days later at his checkup, he weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces. Yesterday someone from the Smart Start program came out. He weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces. So we are almost back to where we started! Yay! He is a great eater!

More pictures and blogs to come soon.....

It's Time!!

Ok, so I know I have been a slacker..... but today will be my last post before our little peanut gets here! We have a scheduled c-section for 11:30 in the morning and I can't wait to meet him!!!

He officially has a name.... Wesley Eugene Harris. We liked Wesley and Eugene is my grandfather's name. So, that's how we came up with it. Really scientific, I know.

It's been a long past couple of weeks, especially knowing when we were going to the hospital. I think we have been been counting down (at least the boys have) since the beginning of May.

I'll be sure to post pictures and an update as soon as I can.

The next time I write, we will be a family of five.... plus the 2 dogs :-) Still the only girl in my house.....

4 more weeks.....

Well, it's almost time! We have less than 4 weeks left now (26 days to be exact). I think we are ready. We have had two GREAT showers that I got to share with lots of friends and family and we got pretty much everything we need. There are still a few odds and ends that I am sure we need, but we have all the major stuff covered for now.
Today I am still working on organizing our files at home so I won't have that to worry about those and later this afternoon I am going to work on our hospital bag to have ready just in case he decides to come early. That would totally be fine with me. After all, Thursday is the full moon. But, there is a good chance it will be 26 more days before he gets here.
He still doesn't have a full name yet, but we are almost there. We have our list narrowed down to four names and I think we are almost ready to pick.
The boys are still excited and are asking everyday how much longer it will be until "peanut" gets here. They have been pretty helpful the last couple of weeks and I am trying to get them into new routines of helping with laundry and other little things where they can help out when he gets here.
I'm going to the doctor every week now starting this week and I get to see Dr.Ross now, since she will be the one doing our scheduled c-section. They said they will check this week or next week to make sure nothing is happenening early. So far, everything has been great the last several visits. Heartrate is good, blood pressure is good and my weight is good. Weight gain according to the doctor is only about 6 pounds. With any luck, I will leave the hospital smaller than I was before the pregnancy. That will be a first for me!
Been craving lots of sweets this week, which is totally unusual for me. Other than that, food in general is what I have been craving! Hopefully I can update later this week with a name!

Ready.... well at least the room is!

Well, decorating the nursery was success! We got it done all in one weekend and it is exactly what I had in mind. I am very excited that we got it done. I've been able to get things that I already had put up in the nursery and now all we need is a baby! And of course a few other things like diapers and stuff :-)
The nursery walls are green and one wall has brown polka dots. We got our nursery furniture off of Craigslist back in January and it looks absolutely wonderful in the room. Josh did a great job not killing me as I had lots of little projects for him to work on in there. He put up new blinds and a new ceiling fan in addition to re-routing cable to the next room so Austin and Kaleb could still have their TV to watch. The nursery bedding is the Jungle Babies theme by NoJo and we have lots of it in there! The glider/ottoman is the same finish as the furniture and has light yellow cushions. It's perfect! Sometimes I just go sit in there now and rock.
The baby and I are doing great. Last appointment everything looked fine. I was measuring just a little bigger than I should have been. His heartrate looked good and so did my weight (5.5 pounds total gain) and my blood pressure. We have the c-section scheduled for Monday, June 21st at 11:30am at Women's Hospital. I'm very excited, and to be honest, I hope we are there before then! Next appointment is next Thursday.
Next Friday I will go down to my mom and grandma's for a shower on the Saturday before mother's day. Then the next weekend we are having a shower here at our house. After that, he can come any time!

30 weeks!!

Well, we have made it to 30 weeks! It seems like this is taking forever :-) Peanut is is a mover and a fighter. I think he is training for some kind of kickboxing competition. Last check at the doctor said he was good. I was measuring about 31 weeks which was 2 weeks bigger than I should be. But the doctor says nothing to worry about. We both looked great, other than the fact that I was SUPER stressed out! So far, I have only gained about 4.5 pounds! This is very hard for me to believe, considering I feel like the size of a house! I think this going to be a big baby. It's been a rough few weeks. My doctor filled out the paperwork and I am officially on medical leave for the rest of the year. It's been a big relief. I can stay at home and rest and take care of both of us and get ready for his arrival! We will have baby showers in a couple of weeks and I hope we get everything that we don't already have. We already have most of our big stuff and will be decorating the nursery this weekend. I will post pictures when we are done. I can't wait! Next appointment is on Friday and I am hoping we will schedule the c-section. I will try and update on Friday after the appointment. We should have about 8-9 weeks to go!!!

27 weeks!!!... tomorrow

Tomorrow we will be 27 weeks! Yay!!! I know that some people have said that time is flying by, but to me it feels like its crawling by. Things are going pretty good so far. I am still sleeping on the couch, because I hate our bed! And the fact the dogs sleep in it too doesn't leave much room for all of us.

I started having leg cramps this week on Thursday night. They were so bad, I woke up and wanted to scream out loud! I probably would have but didn't want to deal with the dogs. It hurt so bad that for the last three days, I haven't been able to walk on my legs without them hurting. But, its part of the job, right?

The doctor said this week at my check up that I am measuring 28 weeks.... not too big and not too small. That's good. I have this silly feeling that this is gonna be a big boy, but we will wait 4 weeks until the next ultrasound to see how he is measuring. So far, I have only gained 6 pounds! I think this is crazy. I fel as big as a house, and I am starting to look like it too. I eat ALL the time. That's why I think he is gonna be big! Where else is all this food going?

Peanut is moving around alot now. I can see my shirt moving around alot and the boys and Josh have gotten to feel him kick already. He isn't a big fan of the bath tub still, so we are still working on that. We are also gonna have to work on this whole 2 am kicking party that he has every night. Without fail, I have to get up at 2 am every night, go to the bathroom and wait for him to go back to sleep before I can sleep. But, at least he seems to be on a schedule already, right?

It's Spring Break this week and I wish I could say that I am relaxed, but I am not. Work sucks right now, even worse than it did weeks ago when I wrote that it sucked. It's terrible. At this point, if I didn't need insurance, I think I would turn in my resignation! It's so stressful that I actually asked my doctor about going back on my prozac. She said it was ok, but I am still debating it. I know the doctor said it was fine, but I have done so good without ANY meds, even when I had the flu! So, I will make a decision about that this week. I wish I could find another job right now.

The stuff for the nursery should have been shipped this week and when it arrives, I will go pick out which shade of green we will be putting in the nursery. I got the decals for the wall and I am all ready to paint..... except for getting all of Austin and Kaleb's things out. We got storage cubbies for their stuff and we are refinishing those now. Once they get done, I will start moving things over in their room. I am hoping to get this done in the next 2 weeks.

Off to enjoy the wonderful thiunderstorms and tornado warnings now.

Starting to get ready.....

So I have started getting things in for the nursery and I am getting very excited! We got the rug in and the nursery baskets that match our pattern. My mom bought all the crib bedding and now I am waiting on that to get here. Once that is here, I will go pick out a paint color!!! I also got the decals this week that will go on the wall after we paint.

Before we can start painting the nursery, we have to take all of Austin and Kaleb's toys out of there. I have been looking for some storage for their room to put all of their things in. This week I found some storage cubbies on craigslist. Someone bought them at an auction from Rockingham County Schools. They are great cubbies and just need to be cleaned up a little. Hopefully we will have one ready to go in their room by tomorrow and can start moving things in.

Peanut is moving around alot lately. He doesn't like it when I take a hot bath, so we will have to talk about that. I really enjoy soaking in the tub. :-) I go in 2 weeks for my glucose test. Hopefully everything will be normal there. I start rotating through all the doctors this visit. It will be nice to meet everyone else in the practice. I really like my doctor's office and so far everyone who works there.

Josh and I have been looking for new bedroom furniture this week. Josh has had the set we have now since he was in high school and it is time for a change. We are upgrading to a king size bed (FINALLY). Between the two of us and both dogs, we need more room! I can't wait because I have been sleeping on the couch alot lately because the bed just isn't comfortable anymore.

One day I'll take some pictures and upload them. Until then.....

Prenatal Massage!

For Christmas, Josh got me 2 prenatal massages from Balance Day Spa. After rescheduling twice already, I FINALLY got to go tonight!! It was amazing. If you are pregnant, or will be soon, you should go get a prenatal massage. It was great. They had this awesome pillow and I got to lay on my stomach, which I haven't been able to do in forever. It was very relaxing and I can't wait to go back for the next one. Maybe someone will buy me another one for my birthday!

A Blog for Carey and her Mom!

I have to make a special blog post for two ladies who are angels in my book! A couple months ago, right after I found out I was pregnant, I also found out that some things I had in someone else's storage unit got auctioned off without my knowledge. Among those things was a big scrapbook bag I had, including all of Austin and Kaleb's baby pictures. I was devastated. I cried for days. I called the storage company who contacted the person who bought the unit items and said that all they could do was contact them and give them my information. I had not heard anything and thought that I would never see those pictures again.
I just knew that I was going to have all these pictures of the new baby and nothing to show for Austin and Kaleb. Week before last, I got a random friend request on facebook. Then a message from the same person. She said that her mom had bought some stuff at a yard sale and she believed that she had my pictures. She said that the boys were Austin and Kaleb and their mom was April Russ and went to UNCG. I immediately started crying. I couldn't even finish reading the message before I started replying to her. Not only did they have my pictures, they had also saved the pages out of the scrapbooks that I had already started. I met Carey's mom last week and she returned my pictures to me. The two of them will never know how much it meant to me that total strangers decided to look for me to give me my pictures back. I sat at home that night for hours just looking through the pictures and crying. There was one picture in there that could never be replaced. It was a picture of Austin, myself, my mom, my grandma and my great grandmother. My great grandmother has since passed away and that is the only picture we have of the five generations of my family.
I want to say Thank You to Carey and her mom for being good people. They could have just thrown those pictures away, but took the time to search for me and meet me and give me back my memories that I thought I may never get back.

22 weeks!.... and a cold, rainy day.

Well, today is 22 weeks. It doesn't seem like it has been that long. We only have about 17 weeks to go because we will have a scheduled c-section. That's not long at all. It seems like the time is flying.

I am at home again today because I have the flu. I have been resting since Thursday afternoon and feel much better today. But I decided that I would stay home and rest today just to make sure I was 100% before I went back to work. I don't want to miss any more work than I have to.

The baby has been moving around alot lately and he is not a big fan of the doppler. He doesnt like it when I push on my belly and kicks me pretty hard when I do. I'm getting pretty excited!

I was supposed to go on Sunday for my first prenatal massage. Since I was sick, I cancelled it and can't wait to reschedule it. Josh bought me 2 prenatal massages for Christmas. I'm going to reschedule one for this week I think and then the other in late April or Early May. Work is really stressing me out and I can't wait for the massage.

We haven't bought anything new for the baby since the last post, but we did buy a storm door for the front of the house. It was nice to be able to open it yesterday and let some sunlight in. It's going to be wonderful in the Spring to be able to leave the door open and open up the screen.

Strangely, I have been craving so many different kinds of food. One of my favorite things has been pintos and cheese from Taco Bell. A couple weeks ago, it was chocolate fudge ice cream. Who knows what I will want next week? I just hope it is something good. I also haven't been craving many sweet things; mainly salty things. I don't know which is worse.

My next doctor appointment is this Friday at 3:30. I think they will do another ultrasound because there were some measurements they were unable to get last time we were there. After that, I will heading down to Bolivia to my cousin and his wife's baby shower.

We are starting to look at different names and are really having a hard time. It's so hard trying to find something to go with Austin and Kaleb :-) Any suggestions are welcome.

It's been a while....

It's been a couple of weeks since I updated the blog. Things have been so crazy with the weather and work.... did I mention things have been crazy at work? Ugh!!!

Today I am just sitting at home on the couch. I woke up Tuesday morning with a sore throat and cough. I decided yesterday morning that I would call my doctor because I didn't want it to turn into something more serious. My OB suggested that I go to Urgent Care in case they needed to x-ray to see if I had bronchitis. After sitting at Urgent Care for 2 and a half hours, a q-tip up my nose, and 2 tubes of blood later, I find out I have the flu! Really? I have never had the flu.... I never get the shot. So now, I have no choice but to sit around and rest, which is fine, but my house still looks like a hurricane came through it.

Last weekend my mom came up and brought me something that I found on craigslist in Wilmington! I found a baby doppler to listen to the baby's heartbeat. It's the greatest thing ever!!! I can listen to my little peanut's heartbeat anytime I want. This morning it was about 147. I can't wait to share it when I am done with it and pass it on to Chris and Jeanna.

I went this week and bought the stroller/carseat combo. I know its early, but the one I registered for is being discontinued and I wanted it. I liked it, that's why I picked it, and I went and got it.

My next OB appointment is next Friday. So far I have lost about 5 pounds and I can't wait to get a weight update. I'm sure the weight loss can't last much longer. I eat like a pig and he was already weighing a little more than normal at our last visit. So, as long as he is healthy, that's all that matters. We will make our first big payment to the doctor's office next Friday too and that is sure to hurt!

I think that is enough updating for now.... it's time to lay back down on the couch and force myslef to rest. I'll try and post some u/s pics soon!

Another snowy day....

So I woke up this morning to about two more inches of snow on the ground. It was the giant snowflakes, the big wet ones that make the perfect snowballs! The only thing to throw them at was the dog. Maggie loves to chase them and then eat them. Yeah, so no school again today.... I feel like it is summer again. I am having to find something to keep the boys occupied almost every day this week. But, it has been a nice break! Yesterday was the only day that we have been to school this week. It's crazy!

I'm starting to gather things for the new baby. When Kaleb was three, we decided that we were done and weren't having any more babies. So, we got rid of everything! Funny how things work out that way :-) So, we are literally starting over with this one. Craigslist has become my new best friend and I figure if I just buy a couple of things here and there, it won't be so bad, right?

I picked up two green cloth baskets at Target that I thought were cute. They are a dark green with lighter green polka dots on them. They will be great for storing things in the dresser/changer. Every once in a while I will find something else to add to the registry, but sometimes I just buy it instead! Is that silly? Alot of the things that we have on the registry are big items, but I'm hoping that I'll get lots of clothes and diapers and gift cards for shower gifts.

Back to Work!

Ugh.... do we really have to go back? I haven't seen my fifth graders since last Wednesday. I took Thursday and Friday off for doctor appointments and then we have had three snow days this week! What will I do in the morning? It's probably a good thing we have a two hour delay! It might take us that long to get back into our routine :-) When I say "we" I mean the boys and I. Josh won't even notice.

It's been nice doing nothing, but its back to the grind tomorrow. I gotta catch up on laundry, lesson plans, etc. But today was a fun day. I had lunch with the boys. Then we went and met Chris and Caitlin at Once Upon a Child. We ran around all afternoon and then had dinner. Now we are all back home and watching the hockey game..... GO CANES!

You'll be happy to know that peanut was kicking the crap out of me last night.... maybe before he was just sleeping... for three days... who knows? But there has been lots of movement last night and today. Nothing super exciting to report really. Time for us all to get ready for bed.

On a side note..... I FINALLY got the comments boxes fixed... I think :-) It has only taken me 2 whole days. We will see if it works now. Yay!

Baby Furniture!

So, my mom and I were going to Charlotte on Friday to the USA Baby store to look at furniture. I had found this amazing furniture on Craig's List that was gone before it was on there 2 hours! It was exactly what I wanted. I was devastated! The closet place that carries the brand was in Charlotte.

Thursday night, I found an amazing post on Craig's List in Charlotte. I had been trying to find a nursery set. I wanted a crib and changing table/dresser. I just wanted something that already matched so I didn't have to hunt to find stuff to go with it. Boy did I find it! We picked up a crib, dresser/changing table combo with the hutch and a glider and Ottoman. And yes, it all fit in the back of my van! If any of you were ever in doubt about getting a van, you NEED to get one!

Back to the furniture..... It's a Baby's Dream Serenity Crib in cherry finish. It's a little darker than I originally wanted, but I fell in love with it! The couple selling it to us lived in a giant house and probably could have just given it away! The dresser combo is great. My favorite part is the Dutalier Glider/Ottoman combo. It reclines!!! I want to bring it home now.

I decided on the Jungle Babies theme at Babies R Us and I love the monkeys that go with it! So, the nursery will be greens and browns with monkeys! I can't wait to decorate. I never got to really decorate with Austin or Kaleb because we rented at the time. I am very excited about picking out a paint color.

Long Day today.....

So, I still didn't feel my little peanut move today. Josh told me I was paranoid and I told him he was an idiot! :-) Just a typical day in our house, that's all! We ventured out in the ice today. I had to get out of the house. We had lunch at Steak and Shake, replaced Josh's stolen IPOD at the Apple store and went to Babies R Us to add a few things to the registry.

I decided to call the doctor when we got home. After it took forever for him to call back, he told me to eat something, drink a coke and lay down. If I didn't feel him move in 30 minutes, come to the hospital. It did make me feel better that he didn't think I was crazy. He probably figured since it is my third baby, I should know what a baby moving feels like. I went to the hospital and the baby's heartbeat was 155. That's good! So, at least I felt better. He said if I don't feel him by the morning to call the office to schedule an appointment tomorrow.

I didn't tell anyone I was going to the hospital. I figured things were ok and there was no need to worry everyone. I'm sure I will hear about this one later :-) I'm gonna find some pictures of the furniture in a bit. Stay tuned for a furniture post!

Long Weekend....

Well, I set up our blog a couple weeks ago and I thought I would give it a go. It has been a long weekend. We are snowed in and I can't wait to get out of the house! We had our big u/s on Thursday and found out we are having another boy! Yay for a healthy baby..... boo for me being the only female in the house! :-) My mom and I went Friday to the other side of Charlotte to pick up some baby furniture. It is now safe in storage until we make room for it. I haven't really felt little peanut move for a couple of days now and that really worries me. If I don't feel him later tonight or tomorrow morning, I think I might call the doctor. I have been able to feel him for the last couple of weeks and normally I wouldn't worry, but we just had some friends of ours lose twins at 19 weeks..... which is where I am tomorrow. Here is hoping for a restful night with lots of movement!
